Our Story
Bud & Blossom ‘Creatives’ was founded by artist, educator and mentor Tanja Swoboda-van Biljon to nurture creativity, confidence and growth through the visual arts.
With over two decades of teaching and mentoring experience, Tanja sees art as more than a subject or hobby. It builds critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, self-expression and deeper understanding.
At Bud & Blossom, we believe everyone has creative potential. We guide each learner in developing skill, confidence, discipline and their unique creative voice.
The name Bud & Blossom reflects our vision: that every student, parent, teacher and creative can take root, bud, blossom and bear fruit through their gifts and influence.
Today, Bud & Blossom ‘Creatives’ offers CAPS-aligned Visual Arts education, homeschool support, creative development programmes, 3D Animation, workshops, mentorship and art-inspired décor products, all rooted in original artworks and Tanja’s “Rainbow Renaissance” artistic language.

Founder — Tanja van Biljon
Tanja Swoboda-van Biljon is an award-winning South African artist and educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. Fine Arts Honours graduate from the University of Pretoria. ARTi Gallery Top 100 (2024). Best Educator 2025. Registered Impaq assessor.
Her “Rainbow Renaissance” artistic language celebrates South Africa’s heritage, beauty, and the power of hope. Passionate about academic excellence in Visual Arts while nurturing confidence, creativity, and authentic self-expression.
Visual Arts & Animation Educator — Merandie de Jager
Merandie de Jager holds a BA in Film Arts, specialising in 3D Animation and Screenwriting, and has over five years of industry experience as a 3D Animation Generalist.
Passionate about both creativity and education, Merandie has a natural ability to connect with learners and guide them with patience, encouragement and genuine care. She believes that every student has unique creative potential and strives to create a supportive environment where confidence, skill and self-expression can flourish.
Whether working in traditional art mediums or digital animation, she enjoys helping learners develop their artistic voice, explore new techniques and discover the joy of creativity. At Bud & Blossom ‘Creatives’, Merandie is committed to walking a meaningful journey with each learner as they grow both creatively and personally.
Administrative & Creative Support Assistant — Chenique Oberholzer
Chenique Oberholzer has a strong eye for detail and a natural creative flair. She plays an important role in supporting daily operations through administrative assistance, client communication, social media management, and promotional design, contributing meaningfully to the studio’s growth and professional presence.
